The goal is to grow participation and improve the competitive level of compound archers worldwide.

World Archery and PSE have signed a four-year agreement lasting until 2023 that will see the federation and manufacturer partner on improving access to compound archery worldwide.

The collaboration focuses on developing a comprehensive grassroots programme.

It covers the creation of modern and exciting resources, development of new entry-level equipment, and the promotion of recreational and competitive compound archery through clubs, federations and coaches.

As part of the agreement, PSE will receive exposure at international events and on World Archery’s digital properties.

PSE is a leading manufacturer of archery equipment celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020. PSE bows are used by some of the world’s best archers, including recently crowned Vegas Shoot Champion Kyle Douglas, Indoor Archery World Series Finals runner-up Stephan Hansen and reigning World Archery Champion Natalia Avdeeva.

World Archery is the international federation for the sport of archery. It is responsible for organising the World Archery Championships, which have included compound since 1995.

The federation launched the Hyundai Archery World Cup in 2006.Across the international circuit, recurve and compound athletes have been given equal exposure, status and prize money since the beginning.

This has resulted in growth in countries that were traditionally associated with recurve archery and recognition by major multisport events.

Compound competitions now feature on the programmes of the Pan American, European and Asian Games.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said: “There have been huge steps forward in levels of participation, expertise and the competitive level of compound archers worldwide over the past decade – and we are at a critical juncture for the discipline.”

“Leveraging PSE’s industry knowledge and World Archery’s development infrastructure, our joint plans for grassroots compound archery should further boost progress. We are particularly excited about its impact on women’s participation, which is a critical part of our growth strategy.”

PSE owner Pete Shepley said: “For 50 years, PSE has supported all aspects of the sport while producing world-class equipment. We have been impressed by the development initiatives from World Archery and have been looking for the right opportunity to invest in the next generation of archers.”

“There is huge potential for growth in regions of the world where compound archery is still relatively unknown and in strengthening programmes that are currently on offer. This new partnership is focused on unlocking that potential.”
